About Relationship Factor

The Relationship Factor is a training and coaching practice dedicated to helping professional service providers, like lawyers, accountants and others, attract and develop new client relationships.

Joel Deceuster, The Relationship Marketing Coach, has been working with professional service providers for the past ten years. Joel developed the Relationship Factor Program specifically for this market and has spent many years perfecting his simple and down to earth systems for client acquisition.

In addition to the Relationship Factor Joel has developed a proprietary program to help service businesses focus and align their employees around their most important objectives. Focus Your Business Now has been a success for many years and many of it’s planning tools are incorporated into The Relationship Factor program.

Prior to founding his practice, Joel spent 25 years as a sales and marketing executive for three of the world’s largest business-to-business publishing, exposition and research companies. He managed several multi-million dollar sales teams to achieve extraordinary results, and is the recipient of numerous sales, marketing and customer service awards.

In the late 90’s Joel and his partners launched Techrepublic.com, an online IT community. As VP Marketing he help them sell the company within two years to a billion-dollar IT research company for $93 million. It was at that point that Joel decided to shift his career to do what he loves best; coaching and mentoring others to achieve their potential.

Joel graduated with a degree in communications/advertising from Brigham Young University. He has been certified as a Franklin/Covey facilitator for The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People; a certified E-Myth consultant for the E-Myth Mastery Program for small business development, a certified Best Year Yet coach and franchise owner as well as a certified coach and consultant for the One Page Business Plan Company. As a business coach and strategic planning facilitator, Joel has worked with numerous organizations both large and small. His love of relationship marketing led him to develop the Relationship Factor which now engages most of his professional time.

Joel is very active in the San Jose Rotary Clu and the BYU Management Society where he is currently the Chair of the World-Wide Steering Committee overseeing 80 chapters and 14,000 members. He is also a member of the National Advisory Council for the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University. Joel is an active member of the LDS Church and spent several years as a Boy Scout leader and church administrator.

Joel lives in San Jose, CA with his wife Madeline. They are the proud parents of six children who have given them ten grandchildren (and counting). All five of his sons are Eagle Scouts and like Joel, spent two years serving full-time missions in various parts of the world for the LDS Church. His daughter, the youngest and favorite, is a senior at BYU. His passion? Growing roses. He has 250 varieties blooming around his Almaden Valley home.
